Politifact: Florida can't negotiate lower insurance rates? TRUE

http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/national/politifact-did-florida-lawmakers-yield-authority-to-negotiate-rates-under/2135502

Says Florida refused to allow the insurance commissioner to "negotiate lower rates with companies or refuse rates that are too high" under Obamacare.
U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton, in a letter with other Florida lawmakers to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius
The ruling

A law passed by the Legislature and signed by Gov. Rick Scott does exactly that, though they argued that the federal government could step in on Florida's behalf. It turns out, that's not how it works. We rate the claim True.

-------------------------
In the absence of oversight from Florida, the federal government does have some power to protect Florida consumers from outrageous rates — even if it can't rescind them or otherwise impose penalties.
-------------------------
Chief is the new requirement that insurers must spend at least 80 percent or 85 percent of premiums on medical care, or pay rebates. Second, it could refuse to let an insurer sell its product on Florida's federally run marketplace. Lastly, the federal government will review any increase greater than 10 percent to evaluate whether it's unreasonable — a designation the insurer will have to feature on its website.

This is clearly designed to insure the medical corporations and insurance companies.

a law to put as many wrenches as possible in the cogs of ACA. Do they not think the People of FL is going to wonder why all the other states are selling the same insurance at super low prices?

All they are having are interviews with Rubio and with our state people hollering, prices are going to go through the roof. I sent them a ton of links and offered to do some investigation for them if they are not up to doing it themselves on how other states will see their rates drop like a rock. No mention at all in their coverage about our governor and legislature being the cause. If you are watching tv here it is mostly how Obamacare is going to make your rates skyrocket.
