Gov. Scott removes Scott Batterson from expressway board

Two days after being convicted of two bribery-related charges by an Orange County jury, Scott Batterson was officially removed Friday from the board of Orlando's expressway authority by Gov. Rick Scott.

Batterson, 38, was appointed to the five-member board of the Orlando Orange County Expressway Authority by Scott in 2011, then suspended in April when he was indicted by an Orange County grand jury.

Scott issued the executive order that took Batterson off the board, which since has been revamped into a nine-person panel that oversees the Central Florida Expressway Authority. It replaced the Orlando agency last month.

Batterson faces up to 30 years in prison after a four-woman, two-man jury decided Wednesday that he was guilty of offering a $5 million a year engineering contract to a consultant in exchange for hiring some of his friends.

Credit goes to the Orange County State Attorney and the jury. God bless them.

Can you imagine a department of Constitutional prosecutors who just went about looking for Constitutional violations in government actions?

I can dream.
