County, activist group spar over Jacobs' online file-sharing account

Lawyers for Orange County and a citizens organization squared off in court Wednesday, arguing over Internet Protocol addresses and best practices for computer security.

Behind the technical jargon, the case is about Florida's public-records law and what's contained in an account used by Mayor Teresa Jacobs on a cloud-based file-sharing system called Dropbox.

Stephanie Porta is head of Organize Now, the citizens group that pushed for paid sick time and then successfully sued county leaders last year over the so-called "textgate" scandal.

In September, she sued Jacobs and the county, seeking all IP addresses and computer names with access to the mayor's Dropbox account.
