Ex-Flagler Beach pastor accused in $2M fraud scheme
BUNNELL A former Flagler Beach volunteer pastor accused of stealing $2 million dollars from local residents and others in an investment scheme that could go back as far as 2008 has agreed to pay restitution to some of the people from whom he accepted money, according to federal court documents.
Wesley Alan Brown, 53, is free on bond awaiting trial on 31 felony charges in Flagler County related to allegations that he duped fellow members of a Flagler Beach church and others by selling fraudulent securities and pocketing the money.
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission sued Brown and his brother-in-law Edward Rubin in March 2015 and settled in the spring of this year, according to federal documents.
The commission reached agreement with Brown and Rubin in April that included restitution and an injunction against the two selling securities again, but the agreement did not require Brown or Rubin to admit fault.
