West Palm Beach man pleads guilty to federal charge of aiding ISIS
A West Palm Beach man faces 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State, according to federal officials.
Gregory Hubbard, 54, is the third Palm Beach County man to enter a guilty plea in the case. Darren Arness Jackson, of Royal Palm Beach, and Dayne Antani Christian, of Lake Park, also admitted last year to providing material support to the foreign terrorist organization. Christian also entered a guilty plea for possessing a firearm.
Hubbard was arrested on July 21, 2016, at Miami International Airport where he and an FBI informant had been driven by Jackson for a scheduled flight to Berlin, Germany. From Berlin, Hubbard intended to travel to Syria to join ISIL, also known as ISIS.
The confidential informant, posing as an ISIL supporter, recorded 200 hours of conversations among the three men, according to court records. The three talked about their support of ISIL and radical clerics and practiced using high-powered rifles, agents said.
