Deputies: Daytona man pledged to commit mass shooting in text messages
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office obtained text messages that showed intent to open fire on large group of people, deputies sayA Daytona Beach man was arrested Friday after deputies were alerted to text messages he sent that contained detailed plans and desires to commit a mass shooting, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Tristan Scott Wix, 25, was charged with making threats to commit a mass shooting. He is being held without bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
One of Wix’s texts stated, “A school is a weak target.. id be more likely to open fire on a large crowd of people from over 3 miles away.. I’d wanna break a world record for longest confirmed kill ever.”
Another stated, “But a good 100 kills would be nice. I already have a location ... is that bad?”
