(22,048 posts)It's a fallacy to think that we've passed that threshold.
Actually, what we're seeing now is the second surge of the first wave. It will be devastating.
The "second wave" will occur sometime around October. It will also have several surges.
In short, we're fucked unless we're careful.
Wear your mask. Don't touch your face. Wash your hands and face often.

(22,048 posts)But I have a logical mind.
This virus isn't gone and it won't be manageable until the following steps are in place:
1. Accurate tests for the Covid-19 virus. When my wife and I got our tests in upstate New York, the physician plainly stated that a positive result was 100% accurate but a negative result was only 60% accurate. We need better tests.
2. Accurate antibody tests for those who have had the disease or have been exposed but are asymptomatic.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY:
3. A vaccine. This will help quell the spread more than anything else. Unfortunately, it's gonna take about a year.
So, we're fucked.

(46,757 posts)I'm talking about the increase in cases. It's happening now in Florida. We went from manageable to tripling in numbers.

(29,219 posts)waves depend on the virus doing better oe worse depending on temperature. There is zero evidence that this virus reduces in either infectious rate or infection severity due to temperature.
In addition, waves can happen due to human adaptive behavior where the season might provide some relief due to humans "social distancing" by going outside in warmer temps.
But again, that behavior is by no means a given.
The states that are now experiencing the worst infection and illness rates are those which really never went on lock down to begin with because the residents there assumed they were somehow superior to those "dirty libtard cities" like New York.
