A Lake Magdalene area home drew crowds from startled passers-by Tuesday morning.
The reason? A nearly 9-foot alligator, missing two limbs, was sitting on the doorstep.
According to a Facebook post by Croc Encounters, the wildlife sanctuary received a call from the homes residents, who could not get the alligator to move.
The residents warned people with a sign, saying Delivery Stop! Leave Packages here! ALLIGATOR at front door!! (seriously).

One thing I never cared for about living in Florida...alligators outside the front door...

(9,736 posts)missing two limbs. Alligators are not my favorite creatures, but I don't want anything to suffer. I'm glad the gator will have a good place to live.

(8,600 posts)I lived there for more than 25 years. I never saw one outside the front door or in the yard. Of course, there was no canal or river close enough to my house to have one be a threat to us. I had friends who did, though. Rattlesnakes were a different story. They were everywhere, and I grew up looking at my feet when I would be walking outside and still do, and I still always carry a hoe too!

(51,474 posts)move the gators out of your way in their parking lot. There were several retention ponds on their site full of them. You had to look under your car before getting in.

(34,138 posts)A lot of the lakes in that area have very wild edges so are perfect habitats for alligators.
One of the many reasons I never wanted to own waterfront property in Florida!
