GA-HD130: Special election set for Georgia House District 130 following Heffner (D) resignation
AUGUSTA, Ga. — A special election has been scheduled for March 10 to fill the vacant Georgia House District 130 seat following the resignation of State Rep. Lynn Heffner.
Heffner, who was first elected in 2022, stepped down earlier this year, citing constitutional residency requirements after her primary residence sustained severe structural damage during Hurricane Helene. The resignation prompted the governor to call a special election to complete the remainder of the term.
“This is a result of Lynn Heffner, she is the current representative of District 130. She resigned in the first of the year,” said W. Travis Doss Jr., executive director of the Board of Elections. “So the governor called for this special election that will be on March the 10th.”
The winner of the election will serve the unexpired term, which ends Dec. 31, 2026.
