Aloha Kauai!

My daughter and her partner are moving permanently to Kekaha June 1.

Her partner is a highly skilled welder.

He has several job opportunities and we are trying to figure out a fair wage to start negotiations.

Start with where you live now. Then compare to that part of Hawaii.

The ratio tells you what you need to multiply what you make now to have the same kind of life style in a new locale.

Then likely add 5-10 percent because the living wage calculator lags behind inflation so that should compensate.

That's how I determine what the minimum is to take a new job in a new locale.

But...never forget the benefits piece.
