Study suggests continued population drop in Kansas

WICHITA -- A Wichita State University study projects that most of the state will continue to lose population for decades.

The university’s Center for Economic Development and Business Research found that the population decline will continue at least through 2040.

The Hutchinson News reports the study projected that if migration was not considered, 37 counties would lose population in that time period. When migration is factored in, 83 counties would continue to lose population through 2040. Most of those counties are in western Kansas.

The center’s director, Jeremy Hill, says any potential growth is likely to occur around the state’s larger cities, particularly if the manufacturing sector rebounds.

the wealthy don't have to pay taxes, but the working stiffs do.

Look for all the wealthy ones wondering what happened to all their workers ... you know, the ones who had to take jobs elsewhere because they got tired of s*cking the d*cks of the wealthy for the pittances they are paid, and that what they make has to go to those who DON'T NEED ANY MORE ...

...and fighting extradition!

Sadly, most of the people have to cross into either Oklahoma or Missouri, so they're not gonna find much sanity just by crossing the border....

Glad there's a few sane ones there like you, Proud! Keep the faith!

a feeling Brownback will just keep getting reelected. It's getting too weird and repressive. I can't imagine anyone making KS a destination for employment in this political environment if they have other alternatives. As you say, Oklahoma or Missouri border crossing doesn't get a whole lot saner. One has to go further than that to escape the political contamination and stench.
