See who Louisiana Democrats pinned their hopes on
Louisiana's Democratic Party gave its stamp of approval to a full slate of congressional and secretary of state candidates who hope to loosen the GOP's grip on state politics.
On Saturday the Louisiana Democratic Party Executive Committee and Democratic State Executive Committee voted to endorse the following for the Nov. 6 election:
First Congressional District: Tammy Savoie, a U.S. Air Force veteran and clinical psychologist, got the nod over two other Democrats who qualified to challenge incumbent and Republican House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.
Third Congressional District: Mimi Methvin, an attorney from Lafayette, was chosen over three other Democrats in the race. During qualifying Methvin called incumbent Republican Rep. Clay Higgins of Port Barre' the "Barney Fife" of Congress.
