Democrat wins special state House election in Maine

Democrat Scott Harriman has defeated Republican Janet Beaudoin in Tuesday’s special election to represent Maine’s 94th state House district, according to Decision Desk HQ.

Harriman, a Lewiston city councilor, won the special election for the Lewiston-based state House seat against Beaudoin, a Lewiston School Committee member.

The seat was vacated by former state Rep. Kristen Cloutier (D), who left to serve as Maine Senate President Mattie Daughtry’s (D) chief of staff.

The special election attracted attention from prominent national and local figures, including Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Ken Martin, who stumped for Harriman.
