Convoy news for Thursday, March 31, 2022

The People's Convoy departs for California from Hagerstown in the morning, but truckers with the smaller, more extreme American Freedom Convoy will remain at the speedway until April 7th, at which point speedway owners are expected to give them the boot.

I checked out The People's Convoy planned route to California, which takes the convoy on an extremely inefficient path. Notably, the convoy is slated to roll through Los Angeles before heading to Sacramento.

Zach you are on top of things.

AFC is upset with TPC methods. Rumor mill is they plan on a completely different way of protest. Here we go!

Jersey Jay is becoming the de facto leader, he’s homeless, and now becoming more popular as the only live streamer.

He’s on YouTube.

With respect, they're not "rolling through" Los Angeles. They'll be there for the Defeat The Mandates rally on April 10th, and I'm giving odds the grand poobah of anti-vaxxers himself, RFK Jr will be there in person along with every quack from The Unity Project, AFLDs et al.

They'll be hailed as heroes on April 10th in Los Angeles. This thing's just getting started, folks. Mark it.

Who's funding this operation that they can afford the gas, food & lodging for such a long time? What is the point they are protesting? And does anybody besides themselves care?

One funding site was started by a Texas woman with a prior fraud conviction.

Still, money for the fuel must be coming from somewhere.

The People's Convoy plans to leave Hagerstown Speedway to protest bills in California

The People's Convoy encamped at Hagerstown Speedway for the past three weeks is leaving to return to California, at least temporarily, organizer Mike Landis announced Sunday night. ... The group has used the speedway as a staging area for nearly daily trips by a parade of big rigs, cars and campers to the Washington, D.C., area to protest mandates meant to control COVID-19 and seek a repeal of the pandemic state of emergency.

During a livestream of its nightly rally Sunday, Landis read off a list of strict COVID-control measures that he said were pending in California. ... "These 10 bills that I just read are up for a vote next week in California," he said. "To me, they are the reason that we are here. ... "I think stopping those is more important at this point in time than getting the emergency declaration repealed because that's already in place and we need to stop stuff like these bills from getting in place," Landis said, "otherwise, the rest of us that don't live in California are going to end up subject to the same situation."

Landis did not announce a timetable for the group's departure from the speedway, but invited willing participants to convoy at 6 a.m. Monday to a rally in Harrisburg, Pa., and said "then we're going to start packing up and heading west." ... He hinted that the group might return. ... "We're not done here," Landis said. "We'll go to California and raise awareness along the way and hopefully get more people like we did on our way here. ... "And then, once we stop this, we'll come back to finish this job." ... The crowd cheered Landis' announcement and no one spoke up when he asked if there were any objections.

General Manager Lisa Plessinger said Wednesday that having the group in the main part of the facility hadn't been a problem while the speedway was still closed for the season, but the convoy had to move everything to a roughly equal-sized space at the other side of the speedway that wasn't needed just yet to make room for Saturday's season-opening race. ... She said convoy would also have to occupy that space to accommodate a race scheduled for April 2 if it didn't find an alternate location to move to by then. ... The convoy was required to vacate the facility entirely by April 7, Plessinger said, so the speedway staff would have time to prepare for when the entire 56-acre facility is needed for the Lucas Oil Late Models race scheduled for April 9.

Co-organizer Mike Landis said Sunday night that the group would pack its things up in the coming days and drive back to California.

Try I-70 headed west from Hagerstown. There's a camera at Clear Spring right after they get on the Interstate. I suppose they'll head for Breezewood, or maybe they'll take I-68.

Try this one. I-70 runs through Maryland from north of Hancock to Baltimore. It's the Interstate that the truckers would take were they to head east from Hagerstown toward Frederick, which is on the way to DC. At Frederick, I-270 splits off from I-70. I-70 heads east to Baltimore, and I-270 heads southeast to DC.

Cameras By Route from I-70 at PA Line to I-695 at I-70

I-70 East at South Mountain is a good choice

Cameras By Route from I-270 at I-70 to I-270 at I-495. This is the big enchilada. Any camera on that stretch will work.

{snip}

Check the camera at I-70 at Mount Phillip Rd. at the tab labeled "Cameras By Route from I-70 at PA Line to I-695 at I-70." The convoy has made it that far at 11:45 a.m.

Most of those who stayed in Hagerstown are indeed now homeless. On TG there are some whining they sold homes or left homes, and jobs to join. And TPC abandoned them. They will stay with American Freedom Convoy who is more unhinged. Good combo, lol.
