Bridgewater State University officials are defending their decision not to notify the public about two alleged rapes on the campus in September. The school also failed to disclose that a third sexual assault was reported on campus on Sept. 18.

Bridgewater State kept two rapes secret

BRIDGEWATER – Bridgewater State University student Amber Lovejoy wishes university officials had notified her and other students about two reported rapes on campus, on Sept. 3 and Sept. 20.

They didn’t.

And while two arrests have been made in the rapes – which reportedly occurred in a gymnasium and in a dormitory on campus – officials didn’t share any of that information with students, either.

“They need to notify people. That’s so messed up,” Lovejoy said while walking across the Bridgewater campus Tuesday afternoon.
