First Mass. dispensary opening sparks buzz in Framingham

FRAMINGHAM – Jim Pillsbury will not drive to Maine for medical marijuana. In fact, he won’t even drive to the Bay State’s first dispensary in Salem.
He wants a dispensary right here in Framingham.
“State law says you can’t stop this,” said Pillsbury, a Framingham Town Meeting member and longtime supporter of medical marijuana. “It’s state regulated now, state approved.”
The opening of the Salem facility last month has rekindled the conversation around medicinal marijuana in MetroWest, where pro-dispensary advocates like Pillsbury are hoping to speed up the process for a location to open in the region.
