Southbridge church use of school raises concerns; pastor calls it personal attack

SOUTHBRIDGE – Three town leaders have raised concerns about a controversial church renting a public school building for Sunday services.

The Christian church, House of Destiny Ministries, is led by the Rev. Esteban Carrasco Jr., chairman of Town Council. The church began renting the public school building in March.

Rev. Carrasco said there is no conflict and the church followed the proper procedures for renting the space. He said he believes the issue is a personal attack.

The School Department receiver said the church pays the same rate as anyone else and called the matter “small-town politics.”

to rent buildings outside public use times. While I find this particular church detestable, it does have a lot of company out there. I don't think the 3 council members have a case.
