Detroit named a top travel destination for 2017 by New York Times

At the beginning of every year, The New York Times' travel section releases its "52 Places to Go," highlighting a myriad of recommended getaways around the globe to millions of readers.
Guess which Michigan city came in at No. 9 on the list?
That's right. Detroit - the Motor City, the Comeback City, the "D," whatever you want to call it - has made the esteemed list of recommended destinations by the Times, including a picture of the Rivera Court in the Detroit Institute of Arts. The list is in no particular order.
Detroit finds itself alongside such recommended destinations as Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming; Hamburg, Germany; the Great Barrier Reef; Penzance, England; and Laikipia, Kenya. The New York Times makes a point of highlighting a diverse array of cities and territories with its list, trying to capture a little bit of everything for prospective travelers.

Here is the pic they used and the write-up:
9. Detroit, Michigan
A comeback city set to make good on its promise.
Detroits revitalization, after its 2013 bankruptcy filing, has long been building. In 2015, it was named a Unesco City of Design. But 2017 may be the year promise becomes reality. The new QLine streetcar is expected to open in April, connecting the central Woodward Avenue corridor some 3.3 miles between downtown and the revived New Center area. It passes through Midtown, home to the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the entertainment-focused District Detroit, where a stadium opening this fall will be shared by the Detroit Red Wings and, in a return from the suburbs, the Detroit Pistons. Cool beans! The Detroit Industry Murals are one of the many, many gems found in Detroit.
