Bugs continue for Michigan state worker expense reimbursements
LANSING Michigan state government continues to struggle with bugs in a new payroll system that is hindering thousands of employees who are owed money for out-of-pocket expenses.
The government has fixed issues in the new, $178 million Statewide Integrated Governmental Management Application, or SIGMA, system that affected employees' timesheets, Kurt Weiss, a spokesman for the State Budget Office, said Friday. While about 200 employees were underpaid on their Oct. 19 paychecks because the state was forced to pay out based on default work schedules that did not include overtime, that did not happen for paychecks issued Thursday, Weiss said.
"We're in a much better spot," he said. "Employee time is getting entered and managers are approving time."
However, "we're still having some bugs on the travel expense side that we're still trying to work out," Weiss said.
