Related: About this forumNew voter in Michigan 11th :)
My wife just registered. She is 47, never voted before. Please don't judge... she is disabled and has very bad anxiety. But I told her if she wanted I could see her through getting an absentee ballot and this year, with drumpf terrorizing the nation, she finally took the plunge.
We live in the 11th. A brutally red district. It was created 135 years ago and in the time we've had a Dem rep for only 8 years.
But we did go for Obama in 2008 and drumpf won here only 50-45, so there is a glimmer of hope that a blue wave might flip this district.
wish us luck

(22,077 posts)was very blue. In any event, the ability to vote is an important one for all of us. Every single vote, every single voice matters in this country, although sometimes the noisy is so much that one can't hear the individual voices. There's a silent majority in this country that's truly repelled by rump and his thugs, and what they stand for. No more.
Again, congrats to your wife, her voice DOES matter, her vote matter, she matters.

(32,641 posts)use to live in the 11th among many others in Michigan. I was in Canton at the time and worked in Wayne. Was a mix of all kinds of folks. Take away Oakland county and it would be pretty Blue.

(15,534 posts)Every vote counts in this state. I'm not originally from here, but I had always been under the impression that Michigan was more purple than red until recently. We really need to work on rehabilitating this state!
