So much for a cultural, progressive state that for years attracted so many newcomers and tourists.
But, hey, there is multimillion white elephant where the orchestra used to play.
But what really bugs me, is the nasty comments on the strib story. At least the most recent ones.

(47,544 posts)I, too, am a taxpayer and I don't care a bit about the Twins, or the Vikings, the Gophers or whatever they build in St. Paul. Yet, my taxes are used to build these stadiums, so I'd rather have them used to support the orchestra.

bunch of corporate jerks.
Other orchestras that have had bitter labor disputes have had a terrible time filling their empty positions. Detroit and Louisville are still not up to full strength because no one who is any good will apply for the positions.
Even under good conditions, it took a year or two to replace Jorja Fleezanis as concertmistress.
On a brighter note, when I went to buy my ticket for the Friday version of the musicians' "guerrilla" concert at Ted Mann with Emmanuel Ax (talk about attracting significant support), it was nearly sold out. I had to buy one of the most expensive tickets, and even those were nearly gone.
