(10,908 posts)counted as unemployed. (Jobless people who told the survey takers that they haven't looked for work in the last 4 weeks are not counted as unemployed in the headline U3 unemployment rate statistic). After all, I see that on DU ALL the time.
I also see all the time that well, people ran out of unemployment benefits and so are no longer counted (but that is 100% myth),
# Myth: "those who have exhausted their unemployment insurance benefits are not counted as unemployed. If they were counted, the official unemployment rate would be much higher" (you often hear this claim from the RepubliCONS when a Democratic president is in the White House, and vice versa when a RepubliCON is in the White House).
# Fact: the count of the unemployed and the unemployment rate is NOT a count of those receiving unemployment benefits, nor is unemployment benefit receiver status factored at all into any of the official unemployment rate statistics (U1, U2, U3, U4, U5, U6, etc.). Rather, the unemployment rate is based on a survey of 60,000 households chosen at random. (10,908 posts)Almost always it (the payroll jobs numbers and the unemployment rate and all the associated statistics) are released 730 am CT on the FIRST FRIDAY of the month (Bureau of Labor Statistics, bls.gov). But this time, because the first Friday is the 4th of July, they decided to release it tomorrow, Thursday the 3rd.
The other thing that's got my crank cranked is hearing on the radio that some poll rates Obama the worst president, more so than even G.W. Bush. One thing my DU "website" specializes in is comparing the economic records of GW Bush to Obama, and needless to say, they are polar opposites. Yeah, its true the recovery has been slow slow under Obama (and the RepubliCON House and the filibustered Senate), but it's a heck of a lot better than the G.W. Bush crash.
I'm planning to update my "website" (see my signature line) Friday (it's about a 3-4 hour job) but I might get it done late Thursday.
