Semis and campers tipped over by high winds in central Montana

An intense windstorm is hitting Montana on Thursday. Wind gusts have now topped 79 miles per hour in Great Falls, which is stronger than the peak wind gusts during the windstorms on December 17th and March 8th.

If you have storm damage photos to share, send them to weather@krtv.com.

Anthony Toeckes sent in this photo of his camper that was parked in his driveway between Great Falls and Belt. It was toppled over by wind gusts over 70 mph.

Judith Basin County Sheriff's Office has been dealing with several blow-overs of campers and semis near Windham and Stanford. This is where winds have been gusting to nearly 80 mph.

... I was in southern Arizona on Interstate 8 headed west when a good buddy on my CB warned of high winds in, I think it was the Gila Mountains, to the west. I parked my camper van in the lee of a motel and took a room for the night.
When I got up into the hills the next morning, there were campers and semis lying tipped over with all with the paint sandblasted off their windward sides.

That incident with the semi rolled over on the Sheriffs vehicle is... I used to pass through there every day for months, it's right around the 340 Mile marker on I-90 eastbound. There's a big wind tunnel formed by the hills to the south of the road and it's brutal when there's wind. It's about six miles east of Livingston.
