University lets students donate peanut butter to pay off parking ticket
LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Some students at New Mexico State University who find themselves in a sticky situation with a parking ticket will be able to pay their way out later this month with jars of peanut butter.
The offer from New Mexico State's Transportation & Parking Services department is available to the first 100 students, faculty and staff who received a citation for parking without a permit. It will benefit the food pantry, the Aggie Cupboard, at the university with about 25,000 students in southern New Mexico.
While the program available during Homecoming Week from Oct. 23 to 27 doesn't specify a preference for creamy or crunchy, officials do want at least 80 ounces to negate the ticket, about a $10 donation. That's a bargain considering the fee generally totals $35.
