Albuquerque city council repeals plastic bag ban

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. –
Albuquerque city councilors voted on Monday to repeal the city’s plastic bag ban. The ban was put in place to help the city be more green. Councilor Brook Bassan proposed the repeal, arguing paper bags use more energy to produce and cause more damage to the environment. She also says it is a burden to businesses because of supply chain issues.

The repeal faced opposition in front of the council with hours of public comment pleading with councilors to keep the ban, including a group of 35 local businesses. The vote was six to three in favor of ending the ban.

The mayor could still veto it, but with six councilors voting in favor of the repeal they would likely be able to override the veto.

Its not a choice between paper or plastic - you can bring your own reusable bag. She left that part out conveniently, because it doesn't fit her intensely whiny non-argument. Way to trash your own nest Brook.
