Does anyone know how to find out where they are going.
Im in Alamogordo and we have a small ICE reporting group. We dont have connections across the state so we dont know where ICE is headed.
Anyone know? Anyone know of resource to find out where ICE is in NM?

I hope thats another indication that the tide is turning.

(10,214 posts)This may be a will o the wisp, but an ICE campaign of terror in New Mexico might finally wake up the politically apathetic Latino voters of Texas. Latinos tend to have large families, New Mexico is not known for its booming job market, and when its time to set up on their own, New Mexicans tend to pack up and move to other states. A lot of New Mexicans have family in Texas, and seeing their aunts and uncles, cousins, and other relatives brutalized by ICE might finally spoil the courtship that parts of the Texas Republican Party has been running off and on since Buckaroo Bush was in the White House.
Texas has remained a red citadel largely because of the strength of the Republican Party among Anglo voters and because Texas Latinos assumed that the Texas GOP would leave them alone.
Brutal ICE raids in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and other NM cities and towns might well arouse a complacent part of the electorate that assumed that the Republican Party wouldnt mess with them.

(3,262 posts)We originate from Texas but moved here in the 70s. My sister married into an Hispanic family so we have Hispanic nieces nephews etc. we all tend to be liberal democrats. Our Texas relatives for the most part are MAGA with a few exceptions. You raise very good points about Latinos that vote MAGA. We see a lot of that here in NM as well. And yes I do believe this mistreatment of Latinos will backfire if they crackdown here.
Another factor would be our Native American population. We are all very protective of them as our kids have grown up among them along with Hispanics. Cultural diversity is taught early on. Respect for other races and cultures is a part of every day life especially in Northern NM. (Santa fe Taos Albuquerque). I may well have made some broad generalizations because there are exceptions everywhere in what I have told you. But ice crackdown here might not go very well.
Big respect for Minnesota. They show us what resistance looks like. Big respect for the fight and heart of all t protesters everywhere.

(4,482 posts)She is a strong Democrat but her parents remain MAGA. They are good people who give my 22 year old grandson (theirs, too, obviously) lots of support since he shot himself in the head almost 4 years ago. They all live in Albuquerque.

(3,262 posts)My sister married into. Well since divorced. Her ex husband definitely a dem. As well their kids. But I sort of grew up in that family. As it happens in small towns. They are all maga. Even with a lesbian daughter in the mix ex military (not maga). Fox is a strong kool aid.

Reminds me of a quantum physicist I knew who said that there were some truths in physics that he knows he will ever understand but he has to accept.
Much harder to accept in family
