NYPD officers save man from drowning in Hudson

Eyewitness News

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Two NYPD officers had to go to the hospital after saving a man from drowning in the Hudson River.

An eyewitness saw the man jump near 34th Street Saturday morning. He resisted the rescue efforts of four police officers, but they were finally able to get him to shore.

The unidentified man was taken to Bellevue Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

The officers suffered minor injuries.
