Cuomo Pledges ‘Hands-On’ Review Of TWC-Comcast Merger

Nick Reisman

State regulators will conduct an extensive review of the $45 billion merger of Time Warner Cable and Comcast, Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday pledged.

The merger, which will create the nation’s largest cable television provider, is also pending Department of Justice approval as well.

Time Warner Cable is the parent company of Time Warner Cable News and its sister station, NY1.

Cuomo in a news release this morning pointed to an April law that made changes to cable franchise regulations that requires cable companies to show the merger is in the public interest.
