MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – Criminal charges have been dropped against a man who claims he was beaten by two Nassau County Police officers during an arrest following a routine traffic stop last month.

Kyle Howell, 20, of Westbury, was arrested on charges that included tampering with physical evidence, marijuana possession and resisting arrest following an encounter with the officers on April 25.

Howell, who suffered facial fractures in the incident, claims the beating was unprovoked.

“They came out of the car, I gave them my information, they opened up the door and my paycheck started to fly out the door. I went to go reach and the next thing you know, I got a knee to the face. And then the next thing I remember, I was in the hospital,” he said.

Not every 'criminal' remains a criminal....but the police officers never change their minds.
