SUNY says LICH talks with No. 2 bidder have been 'serious and increasingly productive'

The State University of New York Monday afternoon said its talks with the latest bidder to take over the Long Island College Hospital site have been "serious and increasingly productive."
"These discussions remain highly focused on how to provide uninterrupted bridge medical services for the community when SUNY exits under the court-approved order on May 22, 2014," SUNY said in a statement.
SUNY recently cut off talks with Brooklyn Health Partners, which had promised to build a new full-scale hospital on the site, after saying BHP could not follow through on the promises of its bid.
SUNY, which owns the LICH site, then began talks with the No. 2 bidder, The Peebles Corp., over its plan that includes some health services but not a full-service hospital as many in the community wanted.
