ALBANYVoters are increasingly becoming familiar with a scandal over the Cuomo administrations handling of the Moreland Commission, and they are losing trust in Governor Andrew Cuomo, although theyre still likely to re-elect him, a new Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday shows.
The poll is the third such survey conducted since Cuomos administration came under fire in connection with his offices handling of the Moreland Commission, the ethics panel Cuomo created and abruptly shuttered in April this year. The circumstances surrounding its closure are the subject of an ongoing investigation by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.
Initial polls showed only about a third of voters had heard of the Moreland Commission or its work, but the Quinnipiac poll showed increasing familiarity with Moreland among the states voters, 51 percent of whom now say theyve heard or read something about the scandal.
Now, 83 percent of voters say they believe corruption is either a very serious or somewhat serious problem in New York State, and 53 percent said they think Cuomo is doing either a poor or not so good job at cleaning up corruption, the poll showed.

Like Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the other Democratic statewide officials up for reelection in November are facing comfortable leads over their Republican challengers.
Cuomo tops Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, the Republican challenger, 56 28 percent, virtually unchanged from a 57 28 percent lead in a May 21 survey by the independent Quinnipiac University.
