State Appeals Court Rules That City's Sugary Drink Ban Is Illegal

A state appeals court ruled today that the city's ban on large sugary drinks is illegal, calling it an overreach of executive power.
The appellate court upholds a lower court's earlier decision.
The law would have prohibited most businesses from selling sugary beverages larger than 16 ounces.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg pushed the law as a way to fight obesity, but business owners argued that the city should not limit their drink sizes.
