NYSUT fires back at anti-tenure lawsuit

New York State United Teachers is moving to intervene in the lawsuit spearheaded by former CNN anchor Campbell Brown challenging the states tenure laws.
While the suit, Wright vs New York, names several families who claim their childrens education has been harmed by the tenure system that provides job security to teachers, NYSUTs legal action contends the safeguards are good for the system. Also participating are teachers, including several who have been named Teacher of the Year.
Here are the details followed by the motion to intervene in the suit, which was filed earlier in the summer in Albany.
"New York State United Teachers today moved to intervene in Wright v. New York as a defender of tenure, which for more than a century has allowed New Yorks teachers to teach and advocate effectively for students while protecting good teachers against unfair firing."
