Schneiderman: Pharmacies should follow CVS and stop selling smokes

Joseph Spector

CVS Caremark plans to stop selling tobacco products starting today was hailed by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who pressed other pharmacies to do the same.

In March, Schneiderman, a Democrat seeking re-election in the fall, was among 30 attorneys general in the country to press major pharmacies to stop selling tobacco products, Gannett’s Denise Nickerson reports.

The idea was that liquor and tobacco weren't compatible with a pharmacy. They ended up pulling liquor out of most new stores at the time, but never got rid of cigarettes. Since then liquor has crept back in. Guess profit trumps health.

I got sick, threw up and was sick all day. My parents were angry with me and they said my punishment of being sick was enough.
