Maloney, Hayworth trade blame for capacity zone

David Giambusso

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney and his Republican challenger, Nan Hayworth, blamed each other this week for an unpopular energy capacity zone that has already raised electricity prices on customers in the Lower Hudson Valley.

Earlier this week, Hayworth, who was defeated in 2012 by Maloney, chided him for not doing anything to fight the capacity zone until it was too late. The two are vying to represent the 18th congressional district, which encompasses Orange and Putnam counties as well as parts of Dutchess and Westchester.
