BREWSTER A Bronx man is being held in the Putnam County Jail without bail following his arrest for gun possession and breaking the new state law by having more than seven rounds in a magazine.
State Police stopped a van for speeding and equipment violations while driving on I-84 through Putnam County on Tuesday. A passenger, Wilfredo Rodriguez, 40, was found in possession of a 9 mm pistol and two magazines with 10 rounds of ammunition in each. He was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, felony criminal possession of stolen property and misdemeanor unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices.
The gun has been stolen in Norwalk, Connecticut.
The vehicle was operated by Rodriguezs sister. When police stopped it, they observed evidence of marijuana use and that prompted the search that revealed the gun and ammunition.
