While I'm not surprised he lost Saratoga or Columbia counties, losing Schenectady is a huge shock to me and losing Rensselaer is a little surprising as well.

Cuomo won Albany Co. by a very small margin and Hawkins won a significant portion of the vote.

in the Rebublican districts in the Town of Colonie. I am surprised it was as close as it was, but Tonko and Steck won handily and Breslin ran unopposed.

Only Albany and Manhattan counties voted for Carter's 2nd term and Mondale against Reagan. It's always blue. There wasn't much doubt that Cuomo would win.

But yes, it was closer than it should have been. Low Democratic turnout I suppose.

I guess that makes me a turncoat or something but environmental issues trump all else. It scares me to think of Governor Astorino but there was never any doubt Cuomo would win and it was important for me to do my part to ensure that the Green Party keeps its place on the ballot. We'll never have a viable 3 party if we keep just blindly voting "D" across the board.

Since my party is moving more and more to the right, I will move out of the party if needs be.
