Armed Teen In South Bronx Shot Dead By Police Officer

Early this morning, police shot and killed an armed 14-year-old boy who they say fired a handgun at another man on a street in the Melrose section of the Bronx.

Authorities say two officers on patrol heard gun shots just after 3 a.m. and ran to East 151st Street and Courtlandt Avenue, where they saw Shaaliver Douse chasing another male with a gun.

After Douse fired at the pursued male, police ordered him to drop the gun.

One officer then fired a single shot and hit Douse in the lower left jaw.

Douse, who was arrested in May on attempted murder charges for shooting a 15-year-old.

Douse had a court appearance scheduled for Aug. 23, for weapons possession, records show.
