Terror Trial Attorney Makes Plea To Vacate Prison Sentence

NY1News

The attorney convicted of helping a terrorist leader communicate with his followers is fighting to be released from prison as she battles terminal cancer.

A lawyer representing Lynne Stewart, 73, filed court papers last week asking a judge to vacate her 10-year prison sentence.

The federal bureau of prisons denied an earlier request.

Stewart was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, the same year she was convicted of helping her client Omar Abdel Rahman - also known as the Blind Sheikh - communicate with his followers in Egypt.

No contact with anyone with islamic extremist connections, and no practicing law. Save the state some money and send her packing.
