Woolworth Tower Lobby Opens For Scheduled Tours

NY1News

After being off-limits to the public for decades, the lobby of New York's historic Woolworth Building is now open for tours.

Helen Post Curry, the great-grandaughter of the building's architect, Cass Gilbert, is organizing the small tour groups.

The building's management agreed to allow tours on a trial basis after Gilbert arranged a few in April to help celebrate the building's centennial.

The lobby, which is full of sculptures and vaulted mosaic ceilings, has been closed since World War II.
