Democratic Queens BP Candidates Clash Over Development, Policing In Debate

Candidates in the Democratic primary for Queens borough president faced off in a debate on the Road to City Hall Thursday night, clashing over development and policing. NY1's Courtney Gross filed the following report.
Once upon a time, they all served together in the City Council. But now, the three Democratic candidates for Queens borough president aren't getting along.
In their first televised debate Thursday night on the Road to City Hall, Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., state Senator Tony Avella and former Councilwoman Melinda Katz faced off on development, policing and rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy.
"Clearly, in the borough of Queens, affordable housing is one of the most needed assets," Katz said.
