Sen. Gillibrand has book deal

AP

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand has a deal to write a book that will be a memoir and a call to action for women.

Random House Inc. imprint Ballantine Bantam Dell tells The Associated Press the New York Democrat's currently untitled book will include stories about her upbringing and how she "integrates marriage and motherhood into a dynamic and demanding political career."

Gillibrand says she admires books by and about women in professional life. She cites Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg's "Lean In" and Hillary Rodham Clinton's "Living History." Gillibrand succeeded Clinton in the U.S. Senate in 2009 after Clinton became U.S. secretary of state.
