Rival to Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes gets two more big endorsements

Two more members of Congress have come out against Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes Tuesday in his race against rival Kenneth Thompson with one calling the longtime prosecutor politically corrupt.
Reps. Nydia Velazquez (D-Bushwick) and Jerry Nadler (D-Borough Park) joined fellow Brooklyn Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and Yvette Clarke, who endorsed Thompson in June, giving the former federal prosecutor and lawyer the support of Brooklyns entire congressional delegation.
Hynes has held the seat for 23 years but has come under fire by critics who say he has failed to charge Hasidic and Orthodox Jewish child molesters in order to win vote from those insular communities, which tend to vote as one bloc.
Brooklyn's top prosecutor has also been criticized for a string of convictions that are now being reviewed. Several of the convicted men were later released after the charges were dropped.
