Officer struck in Astoria, police search for suspect

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A police officer was struck by a car in Astoria Thursday night.

It happened at Crescent Street and Broadway in Astoria around 8:50 p.m. as police attempted to pull the vehicle over.

The officer who was hit then fired shots at the vehicle, which fled the scene.

The officer's injuries are not believed to be life threatening. He was taken to NY Presbyterian Weill Cornell Hospital.
