CBS correspondent Bruce Dunning dead at 73

Bruce Dunning, the CBS news correspondent whose report on the last flight out of Da Nang, Vietnam, in 1975 captured the wretched end of a wretched war, died Monday in New York. He was 73.

He had been admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital for injuries suffered in a recent fall.

Dunning retired from CBS News in 2005 after a 35-year career mostly spent in the Far East.

In 1979, he became one of the first correspondents to report from North Korea, and in 1981 he was the first reporter in the newly opened CBS Beijing bureau.
