New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly reports number of citizens shot by cops is down

The number of people shot by cops in 2013 is down to 18 compared with 22 at this point last year, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Tuesday.

And the number of those fatally wounded by police gunfire has dropped by half — from 10 to five, Kelly said.

Kelly released the data in response to three police-involved shootings on Saturday.

The total incidents in which police officers fired their weapons are down 35% this year so far, from 40 to 26.
