Gov. Cuomo: Schools that fail deserve the 'death penalty'
Echoing Mayor Bloombergs tough stance, Gov. Cuomo says underperforming schools cant be allowed to stay open.
ALBANY Gov. Cuomo is echoing Mayor Bloombergs tough talk on failing schools, saying those that dont shape up should face a death penalty.
While not specifically mentioning Bloombergs controversial school closing policy, the governor said the state cannot allow under performing schools to stay open indefinitely.

Cuomo said options for failing schools include a takeover by the state or a takeover by a charter school.

(25,592 posts)Force the good teachers out. Micro manage the curriculum to the test. Ignore the home life of the kids. The lack of parenting. The drugs. The gangs. The almost nightly shootings. Focus entirely on the test scores and how much keeping the school open is costing the tax payer. That's the way to pave the way for a better America.

It would be like a person take a car to a person who doesn't even know how to drive and ask for his mechanical advice.
