NYPD tries new tactic in search for missing autistic teen from Queen

LONG ISLAND CITY (WABC) -- Police are playing a recording of Avonte Oquendo's mother out of emergency response vehicles hoping the boy wil hear it.

The message says, "Hi Avonte, it's mom. Come to the flashing lights Avonte."

Also Wednesday night, About 40 motorcyclists from a club called "Unknown Bikers" showed up at the command post late tonight to distribute flyers. They are handing them out at places the boy was seen and plan to do the same on Thursday.

Earlier, deep in a fenced-in lot, overgrown with weeds and strewn with junk, NYPD officers in protective suits methodically searched for the 14-year old autistic boy missing for 12 long days.

I have 2 autistic nephews...my heart really goes out to this family. Hoping Avonte is found very soon, safe and sound.
