Off-duty officer killed in Queens after crashing into storefront

Eyewitness News
NEW YORK (WABC) -- An off-duty NYPD officer was killed when she lost control of her car early Tuesday morning and crashed into a storefront in Queens.

The accident happened just before 2 a.m. at the intersection of Queens Plaza South and Crescent Street in Long Island City.

Police say the 36-year old victim was traveling eastbound on the exit ramp of the Ed Koch Bridge when she struck a guardrail, then ran into a cement barrier.

Upon impact, the car flipped onto its passenger side and struck a vacant storefront.
