BY Erin Durkin
City Council Speaker Christine Quinn grabbed the endorsement of the local United Auto Workers union Thursday - further splintering the labor movement in the Democratic primary. She has stood up for us time and time again, said Julie Kusher, director of the United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America Region 9A. But shes there in a much
bigger way for New York City.
The 50,000 member union is a key member of the Working Families Party, making it more likely that coalition will end up on the sidelines for the primary.
On Wednesday, municipal workers union District Council 37 endorsed Controller John Liu and and a coalition of 20 law enforcement unions backed ex-Controller Bill Thompson. The citys biggest union, 1199 SEIU, has backed Public Advocate Bill de Blasio.
Quinn insisted shes not worried about the split, saying shes proud to have the list of unions I have already because I know these unions in particular are ones that are well organized, turn people out, ad to
a campaign infrastructure and can get us over the line to victory.

Plus the one the poster above linked to, and others. Like I said, the UAW represents more than just people building automobiles.
